About the PeoplesHub

The PeoplesHub is a start-up nonprofit that uses digital technology to bring skills and mentoring to communities around the country who are making change where they live.

The nonprofit will use tools like video conferencing to connect skillful trainers and mentors to place-based groups who will learn together to be effective change makers.  Working online will make training low-cost and accessible at scale.

By learning together, local groups will get a jump-start on their organizing, building local cohesion and a common set of tools that enhance their sense of community and their effectiveness.

By drawing on the talent of skillful trainers and mentors around the country—especially those who have worked in their own communities—the capacity to make community-based change can quickly spread.  Increasing numbers of people will become proficient at resistance, personal transformation, and building the world they want where they are.


Goal for the Training Manager

Through recruiting and supporting excellent trainers, contributing to a robust platform, and curating the best online teaching practices, the Training Manager will offer trainees an experience that enhances their connection to each other, their confidence as community leaders, and their sense of empowerment to take action where they live.


Role and Responsibilities

The Training Manager will:

  • Take the lead in recruiting and screening trainers and mentors in order to build a network of individuals who can best support the work of local groups in making their communities more just, sustainable, and compassionate.
  • Work with trainers and trainees to develop an online training processes that enhance the user experience and optimize the effectiveness of the trainings.
  • Identify support materials required for training and link to additional resources
  • Act as primary contact point for groups seeking training.
  • Collect data in the form of feedback from trainers and trainees for each class (at least in the initial phase)
  • Rigorously evaluate and analyze that training data in order to suggest and implement iterations on training processes to rapidly and continuously improve their quality.   Once effective processes are identified through testing and data collections, the Training Manager will develop, compile, and share these best practices.
  • Work with executive director, trainers, and advisors to develop and offer powerful curricula.
  • Update the website and social media channels to reflect current offerings.

Experience (required)

  • Project management (preferably working remotely with team members in multiple locations).
  • Work in community settings with non-professionals
  • Work with people across cultures, races, generations, genders, and/or sexual preferences.
  • Using online platforms for communications and/or training



  • Self-starter with a positive attitude. Solution oriented, knows how to find answers to questions and move work forward. Interested in iterative improvement.
  • An effective people person – enjoys seeking out talented people and helping them build on their strengths
  • Organized, attentive to details, able to develop or adopt rigorous evaluation methods
  • Flexible, able to keep many balls in the air; curious
  • Excited about using data to more effectively create social change


Preferred experience (some combination of the following)

  • Recruiting and supporting trainers
  • Grassroots organizing or training
  • Work with evaluation, feedback, analysis, and continuous improvement
  • Trained and/or worked on own personal transformation
  • Community-based work building self-reliance and self-determination
  • Work in communities of color or other marginalized communities
  • Leadership experience with training organizations or networks.
  • Understanding of design thinking and lean startup processes

We are starting up this organization grounded in a deep commitment to building transformative culture and challenging racism, sexism, homophobia and oppression in all its forms. People of Color, working-class people, differently-abled people and LGBTQ persons are strongly encouraged to apply.

Three-month contract (renewable), starting in July 2017, minimum 24 hours/week for three months at $25-$35/hour, depending on experience.
